Rollerblading

I just got mine for my birthday and I love them! I used to skate when I was a kid, but I got rid of my skates after middle school. After seeing someone in the neighborhood, I quickly added it to my birthday wishlist and it’s been the best decision since! Rollerblading is a great way to lose weight, stay active, and explore your local area. Consider adding this fun activity to your evening routine for a cool ride with sunset views.

Coloring Books

If you haven’t jumped on this trend yet, then you have to! I have several coloring books and love switching between them. I take them on flights and they help to pass the time. Benefits include increased focus, reduced stress and anxiety, and an improvement with sleep. Here are a few of my pages!

Calligraphy & Handlettering

Calligraphy and hand-lettering is such a beautiful art form. I would love to one day be able to hand-design my own cards and letters like a pro. Practicing is key, so I’m taking this free time to better improve this craft.

Sudoku & Word Searches

Sudoku & Word Search
Sudoku & Word Search

There’s nothing like a good sudoku puzzle or a challenging word search. I’ve been rotating between paper puzzles and playing on apps.

Practice Piano

Playing Piano

I have a keyboard in my apartment and I love playing. Invest in some headphones and you can play anytime! Add a new songbook in and it will spark your passion. I found one for Disney’s top songs and I love it!

Hair & Facial Treatments

Sephora Beauty Products

Through my subscriptions with Birchbox and Fab Fit & Fun and just shopping in general, I’ve acquired a nice amount of beauty samples and products to try. Charcoal facial masks, exfoliating scrubs, and hydration masks are a few of the ones I’ve tried so far.

Yoga & Meditation

I don’t spend enough time doing yoga! This quarantine time has refueled my passion for this tranquil activity! Using apps through my phone and air playing it to the tv I’m able to follow along right at home.

I use a separate app for my meditation sessions. Structured in 10-minute settings, I love how these sessions always leave me relaxed and recharged after just a few minutes of peacefulness.

Journaling

Journaling

Journaling is only something I got into in the last couple of years. I use journal prompts to helps create topics of focus and just then just let the pen flow!

Home Organization

This free time has allowed me to re-organize my closet, bedroom, bathrooms, and more. Review how you currently store and utilize space in your home and see if there are ways to improve it. Pinterest is my go to for home improvement ideas!

Workout

Working out at home
Home Workouts

I know it’s hard to do at home, but working out is so important! Try to get at least 20 minutes of exercise in a day and you’ll be surprised by the difference it makes. There are several free streaming apps and sites right now offering online classes, so take advantage!

Foot Scrubs & Bubble Baths

Pamper those toes and give yourself a nice foot scrub. Enjoy a bath bomb infused soak, or relax old-school style in a mountain of bubbles! Either way, enjoy the warm water and the therapeutic effect a bath brings.

Update your Wardrobe

Purge through old clothes and refresh your closet with some new ones. Create a pile to take to GoodWill to donate when accepting again. If you haven’t worn it in the last year, then do you really need it?

Though you can’t shop in person, so many stores are offering major online discounts right now. I’ve added a few fun pieces for summer, including some bathing suits and sandals!

Recipe Organization

Recipe Binder
Reina’s Recipe Binder

Home cooking is super important to me. I cook almost every single night, so cooking breakfast and lunches now have required extra recipes. Take the time to add new recipes and organize the way you store yours!

Scrapbooking

Photoalbums
My Thailand & Ireland Photo Album

A growing passion of mine, scrapbooking is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I create digital albums online and then have them printed into hardback editions later. Above are the ones I made for Thailand and Ireland.

Hair & Makeup Tutorials

I am notorious for watching hours of tutorials, saving them, and then never actually using them. Using this time, I’ve started practicing the tips I’ve found and are liking the results!

Audio and E-Books

I love reading books, though preferably hardback. Being quarantine has required that I adapt to audio and e-books more now, as the libraries are closed. I definitely prefer e-books over audio ones though. Here are a few books that I recommend at the moment:

  • The Girl Before, JP Delaney
  • A Simple Favor, Darcey Bell
  • War Storm (Red Queen Series), Victoria Aveyard
  • Luckiest Girl Alive, Jessica Knoll
