The American Sand Sculpting Championship – Fort Myers Beach!

Each year a group of very talented sand artists spends 10 days designing and sculpting the most beautiful sand creations on Fort Myers Beach for the American Sand Sculpting Championship.
This year I was lucky enough to see it first hand and it did not disappoint! Take a look at some of the beautiful pieces of art and let me know which one you think is the best!
Sand Sculptures
This year I was able to make it to the final day of the competition, but visitors are welcome to come at any point to see the progress. The entrance fee this year was $8/person or $25/family. The first few days may be a little slow as they work on the bases, but the final few days you’ll see them either completed or almost completed. If you want to see them in different lighting then I recommend going on the Saturday night of the final weekend. For $5 you can attend the “Sand under the Stars” event and it features the different pieces at night with speciality lighting, as well as food vendors and music. Next year I plan to go to the Sand under the Stars to get some cool pics at night!

First place this year for the Master Doubles category was Delayne Corbett & Maxim Gazendam for their design “VR: A Grand Adventure into the Landscape of Imagination”. Second place, with an equally complex and amazing sculpture, was Melineige Beauregard & Seveline Beauregard with “Your Beauty is your Smile”.
