A Weekend Adventure Exploring Nature in Fort Myer & Sanibel Island

Determined to get out of the house this past weekend, I explored two nature preserves within the Fort Myers/Sanibel Island area. Check out the highlights from my weekend below!

Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge

This wildlife refuge is such a fun way to see a preserve. Accessible by car or bike, the preserve runs in a big loop, so you may have to go around twice if you miss something the first time! We rented bikes and rode about 12 miles through the park. The views were great and the preserve was so quiet and untouched. Watch out for gators crossing the roads!!!

Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve

Featuring a 1.4-mile boardwalk loop, this preserve was extremely quiet and full of nature! On our walk, we saw an alligator, several cranes & various birds and even a water mocassin sunbathing!
